Charles Weber


Charles joined the Core staff as our Youth League Director to create practice plans and oversee development of young players. He is available for instruction sessions as he has a passion to teach and relates well with the players.


Charles played his college baseball at St. Andrews Presbyterian College where we was a 4 year starter at 3B and holds the school’s record for most career starts and games played. He earned his degree in Business Administration. He graduated from Jay M Robinson HS where was a 4 year varsity starter and All-Conference his senior year. He was the Team MVP batting .500 for the season.


Charles started with Core by coaching a Metro team.  He has since coached several youth teams within our program as well as the Jay M Robinson JV coach and a local showcase team coach.  His experience as various levels gives him a unique vision to help players journey through their playing careers

Matt Keeler


Joins the Core staff as a hitting and fielding instructor. Keeler went to Cannon School and played at the collegiate level at UNC- Wilmington

Brody Koerner


Joins the Core staff as a pitching instructor in his off season. Koerner went to Jay M. Robinson High School, then pitched at Clemson. He is now a pitcher in the Yankees farm system.



David Darwin - Owner and Operator

David is the owner and operator of Darwin Sports, Inc. and the Core Athletics facility. His experience includes six years as a professional baseball player and 20 years as a youth baseball camp instructor.


The Detroit Tigers drafted him in 1996 where he progressed through the organization to play for the Triple-A Toledo Mudhens. He also played in the Cleveland Indians organization for the double-A Akron Aeros and the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

David played collegiate baseball at Duke University. As a four-year starter he was ACC All Conference in 1996, a team captain, and still holds several career and season pitching records. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at Duke, he completed a double major in economics and sociology and was listed on the ACC All Academic Team his senior year.

During his high school career at West Mecklenburg, David was honored as the Mecklenburg County Player of the year in 1992 and was an All-State team selection that same year. He was also named a member of the AAU All America team in 1991.

His focus is on developing programs for athletes to reach their maximum potential through incorporating proper hitting and pitching mechanics, strength training and mental conditioning.
