Charles Weber

Charles joined the Core staff as our Youth League Director to create practice plans and oversee development of young players. He is available for instruction sessions as he has a passion to teach and relates well with the players.

Charles played his college baseball at St. Andrews Presbyterian College where we was a 4 year starter at 3B and holds the school’s record for most career starts and games played. He earned his degree in Business Administration. He graduated from Jay M Robinson HS where was a 4 year varsity starter and All-Conference his senior year. He was the Team MVP batting .500 for the season.

Charles started with Core by coaching a Metro team.  He has since coached several youth teams within our program as well as the Jay M Robinson JV coach and a local showcase team coach.  His experience as various levels gives him a unique vision to help players journey through their playing careers


Justin Seager

Justin currently with the Seattle Mariners organization. After graduating from NW Cabarrus HS, Justin played at UNCC and was Co-Player of the year in 2013 for the Atlantic 10 Conference. He finished 2013 leading the conference in doubles, third in batting average (.351) and on-base percentage (.439), second in runs scored (46), fourth in hits (79), tied for seventh in RBI (40), tied for fourth in total bases (109).  Through his dedication to developing his swing, Justin has acquired a great understanding of hitting mechanics. He is available for hitting or defensive instruction.


David Darwin - Owner and Operator

David is the owner and operator of Darwin Sports, Inc. and the Core Athletics facility. His experience includes six years as a professional baseball player and 20 years as a youth baseball camp instructor.

The Detroit Tigers drafted him in 1996 where he progressed through the organization to play for the Triple-A Toledo Mudhens. He also played in the Cleveland Indians organization for the double-A Akron Aeros and the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

David played collegiate baseball at Duke University. As a four-year starter he was ACC All Conference in 1996, a team captain, and still holds several career and season pitching records. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at Duke, he completed a double major in economics and sociology and was listed on the ACC All Academic Team his senior year.

During his high school career at West Mecklenburg, David was honored as the Mecklenburg County Player of the year in 1992 and was an All-State team selection that same year. He was also named a member of the AAU All America team in 1991.

His focus is on developing programs for athletes to reach their maximum potential through incorporating proper hitting and pitching mechanics, strength training and mental conditioning.

Alex Moore

Alex Moore was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. After a year of baseball at Cleveland State CC, Alex transferred to Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Alex spent 2 years at Lee where the team was a combined 107-23 and finished 4th and 3rd in the NAIA World Series. As the main setup guy at Lee, Alex was drafted 842nd overall in the 28th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2013. After 3 appearances in the Arizona Rookie League, Alex was called up to Advanced A Florida State League where he finished out his first season of pro ball. After 2014 Spring Training, Alex voluntarily retired from the Brewers because of issues with his shoulder. After a few months of rehab he decided to go ahead with labrum surgery to start a comeback to baseball. After a year and a half of rehab Alex signed a contract with the independent league team Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League, but the comeback was cut short after a month.

Alex is currently attending UNC-Charlotte where he is studying meteorolgy with hopes of becoming a broadcast meteorologist. He also is a certified personal trainer.

His availability will be Tuesday 4pm-close, Thursday 5:30-close, Friday 5:30- close, and all day Saturday!
